The North Texas EFT Community is excited to host a new training, Treating Shame with Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.
In EFT, our goal is to create a secure emotional connection between partners. Shame, when left unaddressed, undermines this process by keeping individuals stuck in self-protective cycles and preventing authentic emotional engagement.
By learning how to work with shame effectively, therapists can help couples navigate these vulnerable moments, repair attachment injuries, and build lasting, meaningful connections. In this training, you’ll learn how shame impacts relationships and get tools to help couples heal. In this 2-day training, participants will learn:
- To understand shame in light of attachment science
- How shame increases isolation and blocks connection in relationships
- The impact of shame on individuals and relationships
- Differences in how to address shame with clients based on the stage of therapy they are in • The correlation between shame and attachment injuries
- Ways that shame impacts our clients’ bodies and nervous systems
- Strategies for creating a safe, alliance where clients are able to explore and share their shame
- Practical, evidence-based tools for treating shame in the context of couples therapy and using it to help couples reconnect
